Membership renewals available online!

Just a reminder- it is time to renew your membership! We aim to make it easy for you, so there’s several ways to go about this. Perhaps the quickest way, is to look for the pull down tab, at the top of our home page, right under the picture! The tab says, “Join/Renew”. Click on it, and you’re on your way!

You’ll be asked to complete the membership form because it’s important for us to keep contact information updated. You’ll see some funky writing in a box- you have to tell the system what those letters and numbers are for security purposes, then hit “submit”.. You’ll then get your chance to pay, using Paypal, next.

If submitting this kind of information on-line isn’t your cup of tea, you can look for the pdf version of the membership form, and print it! Fill it out, and send it to Donna, our esteemed treasurer (complete information on the form itself!), or bring the completed form and your check to the next meeting!

Thanks for renewing your membership! It helps the club offer scholarships and supports our various club activities throughout the year.

Are You Ready for Another Great Year of Fiddling???

Scottish Fiddling in the Fireside Room

Scottish Fiddling in the Fireside Room

Four days and counting until we get back together and do what we do best: Scottish Fiddling! The new season will start off on September 8th, at the Calvin Presbyterian Church, in Shoreline, in the Fireside room once again.

Youth band meets at 1:00 p.m. Rumor has it Christina and Niki will be there before they leave for college and new adventures! General meeting will kick off at 2:00 as Calum MacKinnon leads the way, with new tunes and new sets!

A potluck will be held at the end of the meeting, so don’t forget to bring something to share, if you’re so inclined! Remember, you can also bring a recording device, even a music stand if need be! See you soon!!!!!

Gung Haggis Fat Choy Gig!

It might seem like a typo, but no, you’re reading this correctly! You’ll want to put this on your calendar now, it will be a most unique gig opportunity for the club!! We have been invited (and accepted the offer!) to be the opening act for the annual Gung Haggis Fat Choy celebration at the China Harbor Restaurant http://www.chinaharborseattle.com, in Seattle. This will be Sunday, Feb. 16th, 2014!

There will be a paying crowd (this has been a fund raiser in the past) of about 275 guests, mostly either Scottish or Chinese, as you might imagine! The entire event runs from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.

So, what is it exactly? Basically, it’s a celebration of Robert Burns’ Day and the Chinese New Year, all rolled into one! For more details, see http://www.gunghaggisfatchoy-seattle.org/Toddish_McWong___The_Story.html

You will not be able to stay for dinner unless, I assume, you purchase tickets for the event. Information on China Harbor’s website, at this time, only has last year’s details, on how to get tickets, etc.. So, be watching their web site if you and your friends or family want to join in on the complete celebration!

You’ll find quite a little bit of information on Wikipedia, as well. This has become quite the event! Meanwhile…. SAVE THAT DATE – Feb. 16th, 2014!!
